The Blue Porch has become a mecca for folks in Rutherford County who want to get away…without breaking the bank or driving too far.

My friends would beg me to “banish” them to The Blue Porch, just as I plan to beg them to banish me. The Blue Porch is a warm and welcoming bed and breakfast in Readyville. It is also an escape spot for intimate dinners, dinner parties and cooking classes. It’s a place to recharge, relax and have fun.

The Blue Porch has become a mecca for folks in Rutherford County who want to get away for a night or two to the country without breaking the bank or driving too far. A night spent at The Blue Porch includes an afternoon or evening treat and a lovely gourmet breakfast in the morning and costs less than a hotel in Nashville.

We both found the accommodations to be as homey and relaxing as any we had ever booked in the past couple years.

My son and I were on a working holiday and booked two rooms at The Blue Porch B&B outside Murfreesboro, TN. We both found the accommodations to be as homey and relaxing as any we had ever booked in the past couple years. The bedrooms and common area are very spacious, and you truly had the feeling you were the first to occupy this space.

We were amazed at the attention to detail throughout the house. Everything just seems to fit and draw you in. Above all, the house was over-the-top clean, and the meals are as good as you can get. We had the good fortune to get a hot breakfast and an evening meal that will remain, in my memory, as good as anything gramma made me as a child.

Thanks Wanda and Donnell, we hope to see you again soon.

It’s a great place to take your friends and family on a fall excursion.

As we drove down a graveled side road, we approached a darling blue house, set in the woods. Wanda and Donnell Thompson and their son Aaron were awaiting our arrival on their front porch and welcomed us into their home and bed and breakfast!

After a quick tour of The Blue Porch, we all gathered around the kitchen for a quick cooking lesson from Aaron. Each of us had our own cutting board and sharp knife, and we were taught the proper “new” way to slice an onion and how to tell if a pineapple is ripe—and then how to slice it properly. (Pineapples have always intimidated me, but now I know the secret.) We were then seated and served a delicious dinner.

…Thanks to Wanda, Donnell and Aaron for teaching us some tricks of the cooking trade and providing a wonderful meal… It’s a great place to take your friends and family on a fall excursion.
